Unfortunately, there is a Nascar race the weekend of our wedding at the Infineon raceway, so hotels are booking up quickly because people like to watch cars drive in a circle. If you know you are coming for sure, we recommend booking as early as possible.
While the wedding is in Sausalito, there is no reason you have to stay there. Any of these cities are within 10-20 miles of the site: San Francisco, Mill Valley, Marin City, Corte Madera, Greenbrae, Larkspur, and San Rafael. Here is a Map of the Area
We have secured a group booking rate at Best Western Hotel Tomo, located in San Francisco's Japantown. The price, including tax, is ~$170/night for a two bedded (two queen beds) guestroom the night of 6/21/08. We have pre-paid garage parking for you for that night. To book at Hotel Tomo with your credit card, please call 415-921-4000 before May 30, 2008 and request the Hsiao-Gears Wedding Block.
Another option if you would like to stay in San Francisco is booking through Priceline. Our friend got a great price on Priceline for a king room at the Westin Inn in San Francisco for $105/night. Another cheat website for Priceline is Bidding for Travel.

Ocean Park Motel SF $ (we visited)
Motel
We visited this Motel in the Outer Sunset district (residential neighborhood) and found it to be clean, neat art-deco design, small, and incredibly helpful and friendly owners. Very reasonable rates, 2 night min stay. Basic rooms, some with small kitchens available. Close to the zoo and in a very parking friendly neighborhood. Seems very kid friendly because there is a large lawn courtyard and not too many things to break, though it is far from San Francisco attractions. I recommend if you want a low price and basic accommodations in San Francisco, and don't mind driving ~25-30 min to the wedding.

Affordable lodging options for families and large groups. Renting a houseboat for the weekend would be especially fun!
If you're looking to make a weekend trip (3 night minimum), here's a house in Twin Peaks of San Francisco that we found that you could consider. We thought about it for our families, but it was a bit too tight on space for 4+ people:
http://www.157glenview.com/index.html, can accommodate 4-6 people, $275/night, has parking
