How To Get Here

Sausalito is on the southeastern tip of Marin County, which is north of San Francisco.  Marin County is connected to San Francisco via the Golden Gate Bridge.  Marin County is west of Berkeley, Oakland and all other East Bay cities, and south of San Rafael, Novato, Larkspur and all other Marin cities.

The location should make for some beautiful views!

Airports

The closest airports to fly into are San Francisco International (SFO) and Oakland International (OAK).  Driving times from SFO and OAK are approximately 20 miles/30 minutes and 30 miles/45 minutes, respectively.

Bridge Tolls

There is a $5 toll when driving across the Golden Gate Bridge from Marin County into San Francisco.

Going in the other direction on the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco into Marin County, there is no toll.

Getting to the Parking Lot

It's easiest to get to the parking lot if you rent a car.  But if you would prefer not to and need a ride, contact us at shirleygrantland@yahoo.com.  We can help!

Parking in Marin County is typically plentiful (except in touristy areas), but can be scarce in San Francisco areas.  Always be sure to note parking restriction signs in the Bay Area, and beware of street cleaning times.

If you are staying in San Francisco, another option to get to Marin County is via Ferry.  You may have to take a taxi from the Ferry drop off in Sausalito to the parking lot, but it's a scenic and fun trip.  $7.10/each way.

Directions to the Parking Lot for Shuttle Pickup

Parking is very tight around the Club, so we will be shuttling you from the Spencer Parking Lots off Highway 101 (via the Monte Mar Drive Exits). There will be two shuttles running the entire duration of the wedding, starting at 2:30 pm.

The northbound and southbound Monte Mar Drive exits each have their own parking lot, which are approximately 200 yards apart. The two parking lots are connected via Monte Mar Drive - some of you will have to park on this road because the two lots only hold ~30 cars total. It is OK to park on the street, as this is where many park-n-ride commuters park during the work week.

Here is the map and instructions we included in the invite. It's the same as everything below except in a nice 1 page printable format: Word Format | PDF Format

DRIVING FROM SAN FRANCISCO (or anywhere south of the Golden Gate Bridge):

1. Go north on Highway 101 across the Golden Gate Bridge. (Technicality: after the bridge the highway is called "Redwood Highway," but it's still 101)
2. Exit on Spencer Ave/Monte Mar Drive - the 3rd exit after the Golden Gate Bridge and approximately 1.5 miles from the end of the bridge. It is right after the Waldo ("Rainbow") tunnel at the top of the hill.
3. Stay in the left lane after you exit, DO NOT take Wolfback Ridge Road, which goes back over the Highway.
4. The parking lot is 200 feet on your right. Again, some of you will have to park on the side of Monte Mar Drive next to the parking lot because this lot only holds ~15 cars. It is OK to park on the side of the road, as this is where park-n-ride commuters park during the work week.

MAP FROM SAN FRANCISCO - In this map, the starting point is at the base of the Golden Gate Bridge. To get exact directions, please replace the "Start Address" with your starting point location.

DRIVING FROM NORTH OF SAUSALITO (from anywhere in northern Marin County : Mill Valley, San Rafael, Larkspur, Corte Madera, Marin City)

1. Head south on Highway 101 (aka Redwood Highway).
2. Exit on Spencer Ave/Monte Mar Drive
3. There is a parking lot right here where you can park, but some of you will have to continue around under the highway and park on Monte Mar Drive. Again, it is OK to park on the side of the road, as this is where park-n-ride commuters park during the work week.

MAP FROM NORTH OF SAUSALITO - In this map the starting point is at the Highway 101 Interstate 580 interchange in San Rafael. To get exact directions, please replace the "Start Address" with your starting point location.

Driving to the Club (Not Recommended)

Parking around the Sausalito Woman's Club is NOT permit parking, thus you may drive yourself to the club and park in available parking spots, but we do not recommend it.  Parking spots are sparse and the roads around Sausalito are tight and windy, and very dark at night.
